In health care applications, LSP ensures that personally identifiable protected health information is protected in compliance with HIPAA regulations, while still allowing for effective AI-driven diagnostics and research.
Several avenues for future research remain:
Theoretical guarantees: Developing formal privacy guarantees for LSP, possibly by integrating differential privacy concepts into the latent space projection process.

Best Practices in Evolving Privacy Frameworks for Patient Age Data: Census Data Study
The HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) of 1996, in its Safe Harbor approach to the deidentification of data sets [3], gives a maximum age of 90 years to which all higher values should be lowered.
The risk of reidentification, or “disclosure risk,” is related to the amount of utility that a data set of personal information contains. As the risk is reduced, so is the value of the data set in terms of its usefulness.

Security Implications of AI Chatbots in Health Care
In the United States, covered entities, including health care providers, health plans, and health care clearinghouses, disclose protected health information (PHI) without patient authorization in violation of the 1996 HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and can be subject to fines and other penalties.

Although there is a growing interest in ASR applications in clinical practice, few studies have compared the accuracy of commercially available regulatory-compliant, for example, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 [28], transcription services in mental health settings [29]. HIPAA-compliant services provide a regulatory standard for protecting an individual’s identity.

The Patient Role in a Federal National-Scale Health Information Exchange
HIPAA does not compel a provider to heed patient requests to restrict sharing. Notifying patients during front-desk registration through signed “consent for treatment” yields patients no opportunity to negotiate. Patient concerns about privacy breaches and misuse of their information in exchanges have been well documented [10,11].

To prevent the identification of patient records, in the United States, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) provides guidance on ways of deidentifying protected health information (PHI) before it is shared; however, HIPAA guidelines are difficult to apply to spatial data.
The HIPAA law poses several challenges to researchers seeking to use and share spatial data.
